Welsh skiers took a clean sweep of titles at the Cadog British Artificial Slope Ski Championships at Pontypool, South Wales. In total they won the Mens and Womens overall titles as well as the team events in both mens and womens category. A truly fantastic set of results for the smallest skiing nation within GB. However, this weekends performance reflect the excellent season of ski racing for the Welsh Ski Team where they will now rank number one on the artificial slopes in GB.
The Cadog British Artificial Slope Ski Championships mens event was won by Andrew Watson (aged 18 from Cardiff - picture attached) with two blistering runs, ahead of Michael Malloy from Norfolk). In the womens event Charlotte Davies (aged 18 from Avon – picture attached) held off Alice Hales from Cowbridge to win the womens title.
To complete an excellent weekend for Welsh skiing, the international parallel slalom team events were won by Wales in both the mens and womens races.
Robin Kellen, Chief Executive of the skiing governing Snowsport Wales, stated “We are delighted with the results this weekend, its especially pleasing to win on the home slopes of Wales. The support Wales has had from Cadog in developing access to the sport in Wales through schools activities and these championships are really starting to pay off”
